Second Episode: Warrior and Worrier

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.

Assalamualaikum wbt.

Alhamdulillah, all praise be upon Allah alone. With His sole permission, now the second episode is up.

The title is 'Warrior and Worrier.'

I do not plan to write a long piece here, however, allow me to make some brief descriptions about the video.

Before that though, just so that you know, I have authored 5 articles previously, which are highly related to this subject in the second episode, so please run your eyes through them and click on which that pull your interest. I suggest you read them all, if you have time ;-)

My effort in this video is to try explain how in Islam we value our parents very high. Then I attempt to connect this important fact through the status of motherhood which should invalidate the blatant accusation and misconception about Islam with regard to its treatment towards women.

My prayers may you benefit from this video and do share it around. Please take note that I only intend to share, and I put myself at my best intention and effort to produce this piece, with no intention to show off or dictate my opinions upon anyone. So, please have a positive attitude and give this video its rightful place.

About the reference I mentioned in the video, you can go there by clicking here.

Wallahuaklam. Wassalamualaikum wbt.

Ahlan wasahlan Ramadhan. Your presence we long for, your leave soon shall make me weep. Take care all!

Alhamdulillah saya sakit!

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.

Assalamualaikum wbt

7. Seolah-olah meminta sakit dan bala? Mari saya bawa kita meneliti sudut pandangan yang berbeza.

8. Teliti dulu hadis ini:

Rasulullah SAW bersabda, "Barangsiapa yang Allah menghendaki kebaikan padanya, maka Allah menimpakan kepadanya musibah."

-Hadis Riwayat Bukhari-

9. Awak, tolong tutup sikit mulut tu, karang lalat masuk. Saya tahu, mungkin bunyinya agak menggerunkan.

11. Sekarang faham ke belum? Beginilah Islam mengajar kita.

Nabi Ya'qub AS pernah melafazkan:

Surah Yusuf (12:86)

Wallahuaklam wassalamualaikum wbt

Complementary: The Unseen (Part 1)

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.

Assalamualaikum wbt.

As a complementary set to the brief lecture I presented in my video 'The Unseen,' this is the first article for your soul to indulge. I hope it benefits us all. I have tried my best to include Quranic reference and hadith as much as I could. I hope Allah will bless me and my family and please make dua (prayers) for me as I am preparing for my second episode insya Allah. ;-)

Note: For Quranic reference that is only presented with which surah and verse, please kindly check in your Al-Quran for the translation.

1. Life is short. It is meaningless. We could not perceive it as something solid and physical. We only feel and experience it instead.

2. But the real taste of living is unseen and is ahead of us. It is in the Hereafter, and there will be no existence of time.

3. If we have a dictionary there, surely we’ll agree to remove the word short and long from our bank of words. Or at least not to use it to describe about time anymore. It is eternal with no second, minute or hours.

4. This world is beautified and made so as a test to mankind. Allah describes this in Surah Al-An’am, verse 32.

5. Allah then gives us this thing we know as free will so that we on our own decide which path to follow. Refer Surah Al-Insan (76:3) and Surah As-Syams (91:8-10).

6. The rule of this test is simple. Only those whom believe and are righteous, will be granted Paradise and live an eternal life, blessed by Allahu ta’ala. The people of taqwa (righteousness) are described by Allah as having several important criteria, which begins with the belief in the unseen (Al-Ghaib). Refer Surah Al-Baqarah (2:2-3)

7. Before I expound on the unseen, we shall firstly elaborate on righteousness or taqwa, because when we understand what and why we must have taqwa, then it’s easier to understand why we must be a person whom believes in the existence of the unseen. They are all interconnected.

8. We live in this mortal world as wayfarers. We do not own it. We mere travel upon it and therefore need some provisions to survive.

9. What is the best provision for us?

“Take necessary provisions with you for the journey, and taqwa is the best provision of all.”

Surah Al-Baqarah (2:197).

10. And in this journey, the destination is surely the unseen world, either Paradise or Hellfire. The path to it is not easy and straight but it is worth taken.

11. In fact, every difficulty we face will be sorted out by the help of Allah through a way out that He prepares for us, when even we could not expect that it will come. The condition is, however, by having taqwa in the first place.

“He that fears (have taqwa in) Allah may be provided a way out by Him, and given sustenance from the sources he could never imagine.”

Surah At-Thalaq (65:2-3)

12. The significance of having taqwa through believing is absolutely the best thing to have. Allah honors someone as His best servant from the one who has the most taqwa in Him. Refer Surah Al-Hujurat (49:13).

13. How many of the scientific descriptions are there in the Quran, and how many of these that were totally believed by the companions can be proven in the laboratory during that time? Wait a minute. Was there even a laboratory? But they still believed, didn’t they? Can we imagine their level of taqwa and faith that Allah has instilled in their heart? Isn’t this not a point of wonder and a point to ponder?

14. Not to forget the resistance from shirk and slavery to mankind portrayed by Bilal when he was terribly tortured under the hot scorching sun with only the word ‘Ahad’ (Allah is One and Only) as his shield do we remember?

15. Investigate the Quran and see the beauty of its methodology in teaching us Islam. The chapters that feature the thirtieth part or juz in the Quran are mostly Makiyyah in origin (revealed in Makkah) and this group of earliest chapters tells us stories and reminders that revolve around the concept of taqwa and belief in the Judgement Day, Paradise and Hellfire, all of which are the subject of unseen we are talking about.

16.  It was this fundamental teaching of Islam that prepared Muslim for about 13 years before an Islamic nation can finally be established in Medina (Madinah) as a strong baby government that finally grew to become the strongest Islamic Empire.

17. What more then can veil our eyes from seeing the importance of having faith, taqwa and to believe in al-ghaib? Is there any?

18. Yes there is. It’s this transient world of luxury and deception. The moment we are attached to it and inflicted by this heart disease called wahn, our life is already doomed, unless we repent and turn back to Him. Because even if we are not willing to, we shall finally die and return to Him too by the way (and will be surely judged). Refer Surah Al-‘Ankabut (29:57).

19. Don’t underestimate the wrath of Allah for people whom disobey Him, and never underestimate his love for the people of taqwa.

20. If we do not begin now and it is too late to repent later, the total regret and loss we shall taste during the Judgement Day will be one that is indescribable. The unbelievers will certainly suffer the most of everything till they wished they were mere dust when they lived in this world. Refer Surah An-Naba’ (78:40).

21. My message is straight forward here. In this current world that promises us the greatest trial man could ever face throughout history, the only answer to pass the test is to have taqwa and strong faith.

22. Let me conclude my article with this very inspiring and persuasive hadith by Prophet SAW recorded in the book of Sahih Muslim, Chapter 11, Book 39, hadith number 6738.

“Anas b. malik reported that Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said that one amongst the denizens (inmates) of Hell who had led a life of ease and plenty amongst the people of the world would be made to dip in Fire only once on the Day of Resurrection and then it would be said to him: O son of Adam, did you find any comfort, did you happen to get any material blessing? He would say: By Allah, no my Lord. And then that person amongst the persons of worlds is brought who had led the most miserable life (in the world) from amongst the inmates of Paradise. And he would be made to dip once in Paradise and it would be said to him: O son of Adam, did you face any hardship? Or had any distress fallen to your lot? And he would say: By Allah, no my Lord. Never did I face any hardship or experience any distress.”

23. Read the hadith again and put your deepest thought to it. By feeling it, allowing it to enter our hearts, there should be nothing else that can stop us from having the willingness and desire to go through any hardship in this life, for we know, that what will be granted in return, is something irreplaceable, something no one could ever imagine, but it will be there, waiting for us, the people of faith, the people of taqwa.

“No one knows what delights of the eye have been kept hidden for them as a reward for their good deeds.”

Surah As-Sajjadah (32:17)

Wallahua'lam. Wassalamualaikum wbt ;-)

MASIH BERSIH OH KEKASIH?

Assalamualaikum wbt

17. Semoga Allah berkati seluruh pemimpin dan rakyat Malaysia.

Dirgahayu tanah milik Allah.

Wallahuaklam. Assalamualaikum wbt.

Why IH.DE.NA?

Assalamualaikum wbt

1. The videos for my IH.DE.NA below are only part of the whole subject entitled The Unseen I am trying to address. Insya Allah, I will produce 2 more articles regarding the subject, a more comprehensive compilation which will be put up in our magazine, As-Shifa' for July i.e. one in Focus column, and in Global column for the other.

2. Alhamdulillah, after about 24 hours of availability on YouTube, it has now reached more than 100 views, which is much more than the expected figure. Though what matters more to me is not the number of views, but how much benefit we can get from it. I said 'we' because wallahi, the one who speaks has to do more jobs than the one who watches. So many valuable lessons can be learnt, and if it's about popularity in the first place, my episode one will certainly be my first and my last.

3. Now I'd firstly like to thank all of you whom have given valuable and meaningful feedbacks about my videos. They are absolutely useful and will help me produce a better one in the future, which may not be so soon though. Now is a time to begin on doing research and reading again.

4. My aim for establishing IH.DE.NA is simple. I think it's time to work harder on studying Islam, and therefore I need a good motivation to do so. I chose to put myself in a responsibility that I have to share Islam through this way. The more I think I need to share, the harder I will work to fulfil this humble job. I want to become a student of knowledge, who learns it and then spread it to others.

5. Uthman RA narrates that our Prophet Muhammad SAW said, "The best amongst you is one whom learns Al-Quran and then teaches it." (Bukhari, Abu Dawud, Tirmidzi, Nasa'i, Ibn Majah)

6. Not to forget, I personally think that through IH.DE.NA, I will learn English better. For that I also want to apologize for some grammatical mistakes and inapproriate usage of words found in my videos. I noticed some major errors regarding subject verb agreement and of course as a student of knowledge I don't take it lightly and will improve where necessary insya Allah.

7. However, it's worth noting here that I spent more time on preparing the content and mastering Al-Quran's passages because there's no doubt here that these divine words should be more carefully presented, and therefore studied in a more careful and thorough manner.

8. For more information on what IH.DE.NA means, you can visit my page which is IH.DE.NA itself. Insya Allah, as we go along, I'll do more research and share more, and also possibly in other languages too.

Download here

9. So far, I've also shared some free stuffs and the above poster leads in terms of number of downloads alhamdulillah. At the time of writing, by right (from the statistics in the website), it is already being downloaded 214 times.

10. To conclude, I again thank you for your support and my prayers that every reward I get will also be granted upon each one of you, through your effort helping to share every message of Islam. May Allah bless us all.

11. If you still wonder why I am using Ibnu Hanaffi as my pseudonym, here's an article that explains it all (read).

Take care all and assalamualaikum wbt.

"Then, whoever has done an atom's weight of good shall see it there, and whoever has done an atom's weight of evil shall see it there."

Surah Al-Zalzalah, (99:7-8)

Paradigm: A Shift or Caps Lock?

Assalamualaikum wbt

Author's note: This article is reserved for the next edition of As-Shifa' Magazine (in Global column) which will be released and distributed soon insya Allah ;-)

1. This time, my article will be relatively a lot more factual than many previous ones, but I think it is important, as a reference and therefore as points for us when we face Muslims and non-Muslims alike with regard to Islam and terrorism.

2. The idea though is very simple. Islam itself by definition means peace through one of its derivations in Arabic language, from the word salam.

Peace (^_^)V
3. In fact we give salam to each other when we meet and greet by saying peace be upon you.

4. Peace is achieved when Islam is practised, and the practice of Islam is only ones that are taught by Allah the owner of your soul and my soul and He does this by revealing Al-Quran and through the examples set by our beloved Prophet Muhammad SAW, the seal of all prophets.

5. Terrorism is against peace but is almost always associated with Islam.

6. Islamophobia that results is indicative of how the reality is twisted in a way that always puts Islam as rightly blameworthy.

7. As it will be too long though to discuss on how this takes place, I will skip this part.

8. Instead of being in defense mode, I think it’s better to propose how in reality Islam is an ultimate religion of peace.

9. This is not only by theory or its teaching, but also through crude facts I will present that will hopefully open your eyes and your mind.

Just another eye-catching scene ;-)
10. We’ll play with some numbers now.

11. First, as analyzed from Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) database, there have been 318 terrorist cases in the United States from 1950 until 2005. This includes 209 bombings and 43 arsons.

12.  Out of these, 42% were committed by Latino groups, 24% by Extreme Left Wing groups, 7% by Jewish Extremists and only 6% by Muslim Extremists.

13. Let me put this into context. First, these facts are provided by FBI, which is not even an Islamic organization.

14. So quite automatically, you can’t say that this is a bias that favors the Muslims.

15. Second, the statistics are absolutely the opposite of the impression we get from the worldwide media i.e. Muslims are world number one terrorists.

16. Third, we should distinguish between Islam and Muslim.

17. What a Muslim does may or may not be in the teaching of Islam.

18. As far as all terrorist incidents by Muslims are concern, these people are extremists and may not truly represent Islam, so it is unfair to postulate from there that Islam promotes terrorism.

19. I will try to further expound on the real concept Islam teaches us with regard to achieving peace but before that, here are few more staggering facts we should dare to swallow.

20. The US government-funded RAND Corporation reported that since September 11, 2001 until 2009, only 3 from 83 acts of terrorism were committed by the Muslims and they were the extremists.

21. In addition, the Europol’s report titled “EU Terrorism Situation and Trend Report” stated that 0.4% terrorist attacks from 2006-2008 were committed by Muslim Extremists.

22. Do your maths now. Does that not mean that the other 99.6% were the non-Muslims?

23. Islam through Al-Quran clearly explains that peace is always the first and the best choice for Muslims. Islam teaches to forgive. Islam teaches that the most important thing is to spread the message of truth.

24. In Surah At-Taubah, (9:5-6), even in a battle or war, Islam teaches Muslims to forgive the enemies and even escort them to protect them to a safe place, if they repent and accept Islam.

25. I don’t think there is any other philosophy or teaching in this world except Islam that still opens the door for forgiveness and acceptance even in a war.

26. Also, in Surah Al-Anfal, (8:69) it says, “But if the enemy inclines towards peace, do you (also) incline towards peace, and trust in Allah: for He is the One that hears and knows (all things)” which explicitly demonstrates how Islam has the inclination towards peace more than anything else.

27. Had Islam taught Muslims to become terrorists, there should be no room for forgiveness, let alone to even think about achieving peace with the enemy!

28. I shall end with this powerful message. Surah Al-Maidah, (5:8) communicates to us that we must do justice even to the people whom have hatred in us.

29. That means, Islam strictly prohibits any form of injustice but to treat and deal with these people justly and give them what they deserve. This is the real justice!

Islam leads us to ultimate justice, by His will ;-)
30. To conclude, I hope this article will benefit Muslims and non-Muslims alike by separating the sentiment of terrorism with Islam, because there is no relationship between the two at all.

31. We need this paradigm shift because Islam has for so long been accused and victimized with skewed and untrue portrayal. So change your paradigm now, or just lock it with the caps lock on your keyboard. OK forget it. I know, I don’t understand what I said too.

Wallahua’lam.

P/S: You can download the report by RAND titled 'Would-be Warriors' here or read a well-composed article that refutes the accusation towards Islam in terrorism here.
